    HISTORY:

The first season of Polyester Dreams was shot by friends of mine with borrowed equipment on a budget of $500 (from my Economic Stimulus check). Season Two was shot on the same budget.

The idea for the show took root in the passing fancy of an old friend of mine: to create a band consisting entirely by Brooklyn girls from the former Soviet Union entitled "Daddy Was in the KGB." At the time I was hosting a psychedelic radio show at a volunteer radio station and conceived the band as a mockumentary TV show. Some scummy disillusioned radio DJ decides to get involved in music by forming and managing a band. I couldn't find any Russian girls on Craigslist so I changed it to just a generic all-female band. This proved too difficult, so I developed a show around the heavy-drinking life-impaired radio DJ character, a show that promoted and made music videos for the old obscure songs I was playing on my own radio show. After all, half the crap on YouTube is homemade music videos. Or just songs with only the album cover as an accompanying visual. So here we are.

Polyester Dreams served as a classroom for myself and my crew to learn the ins and outs of no-budget web series. We squeezed blood from stones. So now for our next project (a rock opera entitled Suicide Notes), we have the means to do much with little, the knowledge and credibility to actually raise money, and the skills to produce a work with absolute quality.
